You will learn the following Old School Funk dance styles: Popping, Boogaloo, King Tut, Animation, Fillmore/Strutting At the end of the workshop, you will know a series of short routines you can walk away with and use for Battles, Performances, Talent Shows, and more! This class is usually Very energetic and is a great workout. Nikodemus has been studying original Bay Area Styles from Pop Tart (Demons of The Mind/PT 3000), the Electric Boogaloo styles from Popin Pete, Suga Pop, and Skeeter Rabbit, as well as Bopping and Animation from Tabo (from Okinawa Japan, and LA). Nikodemus is a FOUNDER of world wide known "Machine Gone Funk" popping crew, who's members also include Bionic, J Smooth, Junior Boogaloo, Toshi, Boogaloo Pimp, Kazoo, Pharside, and Yuzuru. Having won contests/battles around the US, in Japan, and being invited to represent the US in a world solo popping competition, Nikodemus has experienced success in the dances at the highest of levels. He also has a University Degree in Theatre Arts giving him the knowledge of stage and performance. He has been a part of the dances for 9 years with an open ear to information and history because he wishes to carry on the information and dances in the most preserved forms. The dances he teaches are styles within the "Popping Umbrella"...meaning styles like Electric Boogaloo/Boog Style, Animation, Tutting, Waving, Filmore, Strutting, Bopping, Stepping, Glides, ground moves, etc. He can teach how to perform them individually or mixed together, though his main focus is on the actual DANCE and how to be a better dancer within these styles through routines and individual guidance. Classes begin by introducing these styles at the most basic foundations and then moving upwards in skill from there. Explaining the correct techniques as well as some history of where, and when they came from. After the class moves on to a routine so that students can learn how to use the foundations in various usefull areas (such as levels, 360 direction, and changing basic foundations around) so that students may improve on their freestyles, and individual abilities.
