in the club we use a VCR recorder (VHS) and set the audio line to the mixing board and the video to a junk tv with blue screen.. we record on EP (extended
play) to get the most of out the tape 'reel'. this way, we archive the long mixes on tape aka analog and dump it later. the sound is super warm..
props to the Garage people of Better Days.. JJ-

Hahah. I'm a little late on this one, but man I've heard this over and over from the old school guys, and it makes so much sense. The only problem is I
haven't gone out to buy a VHS, but you can record a whole party on VHS..and it sounds excellent-depending on how the DJ r sound man has the sound set up
from the main mixer of course. The serato question is a goos one-as I have only been using Serato for about 3/4 of a year now. I know that you can record into
another computer using, garage band, audacity, logic, and any other audio editing programs. Audacity is a free download on line-and is good for recording
purposes, it's what the digi turntables use to record vinyl into the computers. The editing capabilities are not exactly studio pro and top notch, but
they're are not bad at all. Now in days you can use almost anything, be it pro or generic, and produce something quality. It's the whole DIY mentality.
This was more of a comment than actual help-haha, but I hope we all gained something from it.
PS If someone knows how to record a Serato set from the same computer=please DO TELL. That would be fantastic. www.kilowattvegas.com |
